This Deloitte report [1] provides an analysis of the economic impacts of the United States’ transition to a sustainable society, including the economic burden the U.S. will experience if climate change fails to be adequately addressed. The authors model the differential impacts that climate change has had on each state, including economic losses as a consequence of climate disasters. They outline three phases that the U.S. will need to undergo to reach net zero by 2050, and the estimated economic and employment impacts these phases will have on climate industry sectors. They project that the economy will experience net gains in a transition to net zero, as well as mitigating the net $178 trillion cost climate change will have on the global economy.
